Mediterranean Hummus Dip

I got this layered dip idea from LeAnne and elaborated on it a little, based on some different, but similar, recipes I found online.  It is easy to make and yummy.  You can omit the cream cheese and just do a hummus layer on the bottom if you like, which is equally good.  I took it to my neighborhood Bible study last week, and everyone enjoyed it.

If you are in the market for a scripturally based study that will challenge you on your role as a wife, The Excellent Wife is a great choice.  It can be tough truth to swallow, and continues to convict me.

Mediterranean Hummus Dip
8 oz. organic cream cheese, softened
1 T. italian seasoning
1 T. pure lemon juice
container of hummus
roma tomatoes, diced
kalamata olives, diced
feta cheese

Stir italian seasoning and lemon juice into cream cheese.    Spread cream cheese into an even layer in a shallow serving dish.  Layer remaining ingredients on top:  hummus, diced tomatoes, kalamata olives, and feta cheese.  I used lemon hummus, but next time I will probably try a mediterranean or garlic hummus.  You will notice there aren't exact quantities on this recipe.  That's because this is a really forgiving, wing it, can't-go-wrong recipe.  Use the amounts you like, of the ingredients that you like.  Chopped green onions would be a yummy addition, too.  Refrigerate several hours before serving.  Serve with pita chips, carrot sticks, cucumber slices, etc.
