I know most of you to come to this blog looking for recipes, and I promise we will have more recipes SOON! But sometimes we like to share other stuff too :).
I called Dawn yesterday on my drive to my hometown for my grandmother's funeral (amazing woman in my life who I miss dearly but rejoice she is at home with Jesus now) to share three things. I think a lot when I drive and when I run. (more on running in a blog that's turned into a novel)
1. Four of my friends (and I've dragged another along for the ride - sweet Kimberly) have been wanting me to do a food challenge. After reading and researching, Dawn and I have shifted a bit and live a little more in the grey, but I feel my body needing a hard core challenge again and Dawn is willing and able to get things started with me. It will be for the month of February. It's a short month and that somehow makes everything seem more doable. Dawn and I are meeting to tweak things up from the last challenge, but if you are interested, keep a lookout on the blog for more information. I am meeting these 5 peeps next week, but otherwise everything will be online. Join us for a month of eating CLEAN (no processed food) or you can go ALL IN and cut out dairy, meat, oil, - basically eat grass - ha! Accountability means so much, so stay tuned for what is going to be a month of lovin' some veggies and fruits!
2. I am the PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship) President at my girl's school this year. It has been my part-time volunteer job and I love it! To be on the end of bringing teachers, students, parents, and the community together has been a true joy! I work with amazing people (Dawn is the secretary :) and the PTF is doing some awesome things at GRACE this year! One of those is a Nutrition Night on Monday, January 27. It's from 7 - 8 p.m. in the Hope Gathering Place (church beside the school). Joelle, the healthy eating specialist at Whole Foods in Cary, will share healthy eating information, recipes, tips, etc. We will have samples of food, give away door prizes, and share our resources! If you are interested in coming (you don't have to attend GRACE to come), please email me and let me know! We would love to have you join us!
3. This is totally unrelated to food, but I thought some of you might enjoy this random piece of knowledge.
"Frozen" - Have you seen the new Disney movie "Frozen" yet? It's about 2 sisters, so we are partial to this movie. The soundtrack arrived and my youngest has pretty much memorized all the lyrics and has dance moves to each song. The music is powerful and one song in particular that Elsa sings (#5) left a strong impression on my heart.
As I was listening to the soundtrack yesterday, I kept thinking, I know Elsa's voice. Certain measures of the music made me think of one of my favorite broadway plays "Wicked." A tragic story with a soundtrack that sends chills over my body every.time.I.hear.it. As I listened yesterday, all of a sudden it was coming together - Elsa & Elphaba (the main character in "Wicked") are the same voice! The next chance I got, I stopped and googled it and sure enough both are played by the talented Idina Menzel. So, I called Bentley to tell him (because he's my husband and has to care about the random trivia in my life - he was actually very impressed). Next I called Dawn, because I knew she would find that to be really cool - and she did. We saw "Wicked" together at DPAC and she saw "Frozen" today:).
all for now -
